Anne Juliette Deschamps

French multidisciplinary artist, Anne Juliette Deschamps lives and works between Fontenay-aux-Roses, Hyères-les-Palmiers and Paris.  Trained at the Beaux-Arts de Bourges and in theatre scenography in Paris, she began her career in theatre and cinema. A project of art editions, Ajee, launched in 2005, constitutes her first plastic corpus.

The artist practices sculpture, painting, drawing, tapestry and installation, through materials such as ceramics, oil paint, colored pencil, pastel, weaving, assembly and re-use. The materials used are natural, such as soil, pigments, wool, cotton, linen or wood.

From this diversity of practices arises an installation work based on the juxtaposition of works within a scenography including the spectator in a narrative illusion, in order to constitute a whole superior to all its parts. The statement is universalist and environmental, humble about its presence in the world. Its journeys towards self-forgetfulness and is anchored in an inspiration derived from cosmology and cosmogony.

For the Bastille Art Prize, an aura of coloured gas surrounds the works in natural materials. Subtle or dark colors graze sandy sandstone, polished steel, or live-sanded wood. 
Colored pencils on luminous beech plywood. Mineral oxides on modeled sandstone clay. Oil painting on curved steel wall sculptures, on wood scrap assembly sculptures, collected in a carpentry workshop, or on raw linen canvases.
 
Primitive rough is a way to remember the origin of everything in order to return to the essential, to consider the insignificance of humanity on the scale of the universe and time.
